In 2020, local restaurants and their owners were severely impacted by COVID. In an effort to support these businesses, Uber Eats decided to use its 1st ever Super Bowl platform to encourage everyone to “EAT LOCAL”. In order to deliver a serious call-to-action in a memorable way, we brought back the kings of local tv, Wayne and Garth! Starting with a well-placed super bowl teaser during SNL, we leveraged the Wayne’s World platform to get folks Eating Local again. Aside from the :60 spot during the big game, Wayne and Garth appeared in-app, on a dedicated landing page, in localized :15 tv spots and for the finale: we created a 2 hour, scrolling credits film, which named every local restaurant on the Eats platform.
